"AIAM 2010" - Bari, June 2010

The RBA (Dr. S. Pasini) partecipated to "Agrometeorology in the integrated management of the Environment agro-forest Systems"

The Italian Association of Agrometeorology organized in Bari, from 8 to 10 June 2010, the 13th National Congress of Agrometeorology AIAM; the program included several thematic sessions:

  • I session "Modeling in integrated management"
  • II session "Monitoring and operational servicesi"
  • III session "Renewable Energy and mitigation strategies."

The Basin Authority attended the session "Modeling in integrated management" with an oral presentationl, which extended abstract was published in Italian Journal of Agrometeorology, entitled:

"Implementing a model for estimating the deficit irrigation in high Veneto-Friuli plain

in adaptation to climate change."

The main results and the analysis methods of the study completed within the Trust Life+ Project and aimed to estimate the irrigation needs of the main summer cultures and the evolution of the water needs due to climate change.

The work presented was conducted by developing and spatializing soil and climatic data needed to identify the water flow for the cultivated soil, that was classified and mapped by means of Remote Sensing techniques.

Using a specific suitable model implemented in GIS, water balance was solved with a pentadal time step.

Similarly, using datasets coming from climate simulations for the Mediterranean region for the XX and XXI century (according to the IPCC scenarios), a forecast of water deficit affected by climate change was prepared.
