The Italian Group of Hydraulics (IGI) held in Palermo (from 14 to 17 September 2010) the XXXII Conference of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Constructions. This event, which is repeated every two years since 1947, is an important and consolidated meeting for all those interested in the disciplines of hydraulic engineering. The themes addressed in the conference ranges from fluid mechanics to water resources management, including, among other topics, hydrogeological risk, groundwater, and warning systems to prevent disasters. |

![]() | The Basin Authority attended the meeting with an oral presentation in the “hydrological modeling” session. The presented paper was published in the Proceedings of the conference, and is entitled: "Evaluation of the hydrological response of the northeastern Italian river basins by a geomorphoclimatic model - TRUST Project (LIFE + 2007). AUTHORS: M. Ferri , M. Monego (SPEAKER), D.Norbiato, A. Galli, F.Baruffi. The work involves studies on modeling for the analysis of hydrological processes performed within the European project TRUST - LIFE +. |
In the paper the main features of the hydrological geomorphoclimatic model, implemented to assess the magnitude of the inflows to the study recharge area, have been described. The hydrological response of the catchments was evaluated using an integrated model capable of reproducing the processes of snow accumulation and melting, the processes of evapotranspiration and runoff production and propagation, with particular emphasis on the distribution and intensity of precipitation. The model, calibrated on the basis of long time series of hydro-meteorological data, will evaluate possible future changes in the response of the northeastern Italian river basins, serving as a tool for the quantitative monitoring of water bodies at basin scale. | ![]() |
